Who We Are

Casa Pulita Cleaning & Concierge came into existence quite unexpectedly, through Joseph Romualdi, or Joe as he prefers to be called. It is worth noting that Joe had absolutely no prior knowledge or experience in the cleaning industry, let alone creating a thriving cleaning company.

After dedicating 35 years of his life as a meticulous and committed police detective in Law Enforcement, Joe retired and embarked on a journey of personal growth and development. He was determined to continue serving the public, but in a different capacity that didn't involve traumatic or life-altering situations.

Driven by the desire to grow and inspired by exceptional mentors in personal development, Joe set ambitious and even intimidating goals, despite not knowing how to achieve them. As he would often say, one cannot progress unless they strive for something beyond their wildest dreams or imagination.

To begin his journey towards these goals, Joe started driving for Uber, a year after extensive studying and self-reflection. Having spent decades working for a quasi-military organization, he vowed to never work for someone else again. Joe thoroughly enjoyed driving for Uber, rapidly forming connections with diverse and captivating individuals. He quickly became a top-rated driver with five-star reviews. Joe believed in the importance of conversing with everyone he met, while emphasizing the significance of active listening. He firmly believed that everyone had something valuable to teach, and his ultimate goal was to leave a lasting impression on others, making them feel enriched by the encounter.

Having driven for Uber for a couple of years, Joe truly enjoyed serving people and providing friendly, dependable service with a smile. That same passion for creating positive experiences naturally led him into running an Airbnb, where his commitment to making people feel welcomed, comfortable, and well cared for quickly stood out. Through his attention to detail, warm approach, and exceptional customer service, Joe earned a reputation for going above and beyond, resulting in his becoming a highly regarded, highly rated, and well-reviewed Super Host.

But how did Joe end up opening his own cleaning company?

Over the years, due to his incredibly busy lifestyle with a bustling Airbnb rental in Friday Harbor on Lake Simcoe and a home in Barrie, Joe had experienced a revolving door of house cleaners. He noticed that every cleaning company he hired fell short in at least one critical aspect, and sometimes even in all three:

1. Reliability: The cleaners often canceled last-minute, failed to show up, or attempted to change the agreed-upon bookings. While this was manageable for his home, it posed significant inconvenience and problems for his Airbnb rental, especially when guests were checking in that very day. In such cases, Joe resorted to cleaning the rental suite himself.

2. Flexibility: Whenever Joe needed to alter the cleaning schedule due to changes in his busy life or last-minute reservations on Airbnb, the cleaners showed resistance or were unwilling to accommodate the adjustments.

3. Quality and Customer Service: Joe swiftly learned the age-old adage that "you get what you pay for." Cleaners would initially offer low quotes to secure the job, only to realize the extent of the work and rush through it, resulting in subpar cleaning quality.

Joe knew that these issues had simple fixes. Drawing upon his background in customer service and his keen eye for detail, he decided to establish his own cleaning company. At first, he had only one client – himself.

Joe faced a challenge: he couldn't settle on a name that conveyed a sparkling, welcoming home, reminiscent of the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the warmth of a household run by compassionate hosts – just like the one he grew up in, filled with Italian immigrant parents and grandparents.

When Joe consulted his older brother, who had just returned from Italy, about the company name conundrum, his brother, Paul, responded without hesitation: "Casa Pulita!" Paul, who was fluent in Italian, informed Joe that it meant "Clean House." Joe instantly loved the suggestion, appreciating its simplicity and the nostalgic and warm feel to it.

Casa Pulita embodies the essence of a warm and inviting home. Joe's upbringing in a large Italian family taught him the value of generosity and hospitality. He fondly remembers the times when family and friends would gather, always ready to help one another and give their all. It is this spirit that Casa Pulita brings to their clients, treating them not merely as customers, but as family.

Like many in Joe's family, it was always about giving, helping and doing what he can for others. Like them, he put others first.
